This October, Jumbo Games is conducting a jigsaw amnesty in conjunction with hospitals across England and Scotland and local Hobbycraft stores.
The amnesty will take place in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Edinburgh. Members of the general public in each area will be able to drop off old and used jigsaws at selected Hobbycraft stores during school half term, between the 18th October and the 9th November. In return for the donation, contributors will receive a money off voucher which can be used to purchase any Jumbo puzzle in store. For every puzzle donated, Jumbo will donate one brand new jigsaw to the selected hospital in each of the five cities. And to reward contributors who donate to this fantastic cause, Jumbo will also give you 50% OFF any Jumbo branded jigsaw puzzle. So the more unwanted jigsaw puzzles you donate, the more puzzles you can get with 50% OFF!
The chosen hospitals include Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, The Royal Hospital For Sick Children, Edinburgh and Bristol Southmead Hospital.
Katherine Pierce, Marketing Manager at Jumbo Games comments: “We are extremely happy to be conducting this activity. Not only does it encourage a sense of charity within the community it also helps raise peoples awareness of puzzles which is such a popular family pastime”.
The timing of this activity is no coincidence. As drop off points will be closed at the start of November, Jumbo will be able to donate a selection of puzzles to each hospital on the run up to Christmas. Not only will this add an element of fun into what can be a hard time for poorly individuals and their families, it will also provide entertainment for the large number of nurses and doctors that work to help others over the festive period. What is more it enables members of the public to indulge their charitable side and donate gifts to those that aren’t able to spend Christmas at home.
Pierce added “Over the Christmas period a lot of people aren’t well enough to leave the hospital and the donation of new puzzles to entertain them will hopefully provide a source of enjoyment for these individuals as well as visitors and members of staff. Jigsaws are known to bring people together as is Christmas, and combined, hopefully this activity will be a source of happiness and wellbeing for all those involved”.
